Pune-based International Institute for Information Technology (I2IT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICTP on 20 October for conducting training workshops for professionals/students from developing countries.
In the first phase, I2IT and ICTP will set up training workshops in China, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and other developing countries in the area of wireless technologies, networking and telecommunications.
The tie-up also entails exchange of faculty, staff and students between I2IT and ICTP. Besides, as a collaborative professional development program, exchange of publications, reports and other academic information will take place between I2IT and ICTP.
Bharat Chowdhary Director, Workshop on Wireless Technology for I2IT, said, “I2IT has always tapped emerging opportunities in the field of wireless technologies. The MoU with ICTP will further strengthen our offerings in creating talent pool for this sunrise industry. The first such workshop kick started in India and all of us are geared up for the international roll out.”
Sandro Radicella, ICTP’s ARPL Laboratory, said, “ICTP is pleased to partner with I2IT. With our series of joint workshops across the growing economies we believe we will add tremendous value to the telecom industry. In all our future projects we intend to use advanced technologies like Wi-Fi and Wi-MAX, and possibly take a leaf out of Indian developments in these fields.”
I2IT with assistance from ICTP would organize special educational programs for students from developing countries, including graduate studies. I2IT will be a focal point for contacts to Indian industries for collaborative projects with ICTP.
