The January-February issue of American Scientist, the flagship publication of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, in the United States, published a lengthy research article focussing on a computational physics algorithm developed by ICTP staff scientist Riccardo Zecchina and his colleagues. The algorithm, which has the potential to solve 'hard' computational problems relatively quickly, has attracted a great deal of attention from the international scientific community. The article was written by science writer Brian Hayes, who visited the Centre for an extended period this fall.
