The Latin American Center of Physics (CLAF) will celebrate its 40th anniversary on 22-27 March. The celebration will take place at the CLAF secretariat in Rio de Janeiro. CLAF, in collaboration with ICTP and UNESCO, has played a key role in the promotion of physics throughout the region. ICTP recently renewed the memorandum of agreement with CLAF for another five years. CLAF's activities have included support for meetings and conferences, graduate programmes, regional research collaborations, and the nurturing of institutional co-operation across Latin America. ICTP Director Miguel Virasoro and Faheem Hussain, head of the Centre's Office of External Activities (OEA), will represent the Centre at the anniversary meeting.
