Le Dung Trang has been appointed the new head of the ICTP Mathematics group. Le, who was born in Viet Nam and educated in France, has served as a professor at the University of Provence, Marseille, France, since 1999. He has also been the director of research at the Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and a faculty member of the University of Paris and Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France, and Northeastern University, Boston, Mass., United States. He has been elected a member of the Third World Academy of Sciences and is editing director of Travaux en Cours and Actualites Mathematiques. Le's major fields of research are geometry and theory of singularities.
