On 29 January, Andrea Monorchio, the Italian government's chief financial officer, gave a public lecture at ICTP's Main Building in which he discussed the prospects for harmonizing Europe's tax systems. Monorchio's talk took place just about one month after the successful launch of the Euro, Europe's single currency. The Centre hosted the event in cooperation with the United World College in nearby Duino.
