WHAT ABOUT STRING THEORY?

The Salam Memorial Meeting also included three days of scientific lectures focusing on the current state of string theory. It's a subject that fascinated Salam during the last years of his life. Today, it remains a driving force in theoretical physics. In all, there were more than 20 technical talks. Among the world-renowned theoretical physicists who participated in the conference were Michael Green of the University of Cambridge, UK; Nathan Sieberg of Princeton University; Cumrun Vafa of Harvard University; Gabriele Veneziano of CERN; and Spenta Wadia from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.
