Brian Stewart, Second Secretary, and LeRoy Simpkins, Counsellor for Nuclear Policy, at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations System Organisations in Vienna, visited the Centre from 14-16 July. They came to "discuss the Centre's role in supporting scientific research, especially in developing nations, and how the U.S. could further support these efforts." In addition to their discussions with ICTP Director, Professor Miguel A. Virasoro, and Deputy Director, Professor Luciano Bertocchi, they met with the Heads of ICTP Research Groups, as well as Professors Gallieno Denardo, Giancarlo Ghirardi, and Alvise Nobile. They also spoke to about 30 Associates. Stewart and Simpkins will report their findings to the U.S. National Science Foundation.
