Setting up VPN and using Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 10
ACCESS TO THE ICTP's VPN SERVICE REQUIRES PRE-AUTHORIZATION BASED ON DEMONSTRATING A NEED TO ACCESS AND USE WORK-RELATED RESOURCES THAT ARE ONLY AVAILABLE WITHIN THE ICTP CAMPUS.
You can use the batch files contained in this ZIP file to configure VPN in Windows 10. You have to be administrator on the PC you are using.
VPN
Extract all the contents of the ZIP file, go to the subdirectory VPN-W10, right-click on the file vpn-new-ICTP (.bat). From the pop-up menu, choose the option "Run as administrator" and enter the credentials when asked. You will also be warned that the publisher cannot be determined. Just proceed and allow this program to make changes to your computer.
If you click on the network icon in the task bar, you will see an entry for VPN. Click on it, and then on the Connect button. After entering your ICTP credentials you get connected to the VPN. Similarly, you can disconnect from VPN, which you should do when you don't need it anymore.
Remote Desktop Connection
With VPN active and the Windows PC in your office properly configured, you can connect to it via Remote Desktop Connection. Just type this program name in the Search field of the task bar, and run it.
